Prof. Vassilis Prevelakis

Director of Research

Prof. Vassilis Prevelakis is Director of Research at AEGIS IT RESEARCH GmbH and a visiting professor at the Technical University, Braunschweig, in Germany. He has worked in various areas of security in Systems and Networks. Prevelakis current research involves issues related to automation network security, secure software design, auto-configuration issues in secure VPNs, etc.

He has published numerous papers in these areas and is actively involved in standards bodies such as the IETF. He has received research funding from the European Union, the German DFG and US funding agencies such as DARPA and NSF. He was awarded the CAREER award from NSF and recently received the “Test of Time” award at CCS’13 for his work on Instruction Set Randomization.

Dr. Ilias Spais

Research & Innovation Manager

Dr. Ilias Spais (Male), is a senior project manager in AEGIS. He received the diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Patras in 2000, and the PhD degree in Analysis, Design and Development of Processes, Systems and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 2006. He has been involved in several research projects in the context of the ICT framework as project manager, research associate and senior developer.

His research interests include, adaptive Big Data visualization systems, edge computing applications, natural language processing algorithms, speech recognition and synthesis, distributed SOA-based systems and multimedia e-learning platforms. He is currently involved in the field of business applications, user requirements capture, specifications analysis, dissemination and exploitation activities and project management in European and National R&D projects. Dr. Spais is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece.

Leonidas Kallipolitis

Technical Manager

Leonidas Kallipolitis (Male), holds a BSc in Informatics and Telecommunications and a MSc in Advanced Information Systems from the National and Kapodistrian University Of Athens, Greece. He has been working as a software engineer since 2008. He has great experience in EU funded projects working as technical coordinator and contributing to the analysis, design and implementation of the developed systems.

He is particularly involved in web applications development and system integration using up to date technologies and modern software development methodologies. Leonidas has strong communication skills acquired through interaction and collaboration with people from diverse backgrounds and a proven record of successful projects via smooth teamwork and effective problem solving.

Spiros Fotis

Project Manager

Spiros holds a BSc in Food Technology from the Technological Institution of Athens, Greece, a MSc in Quality Management from the University of West Of Scoltand, UK and recently obtained a certificate in software engineering.

After having worked for several years in the quality management in sectors such as food industry and customer service in telecommunications, Spiros decided to make a turn into his professional career following his passion for Web Design & Development. Putting together his experience in quality management and his recent knowledge in web design & development, Spiros specializes in creating and managing websites and social networking accounts with the aim of delivering a complete and thorough web presence for the interested parties.

Spyros Vantolas

Project Manager

Mr Spyros Vantolas holds diploma in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Patras, Greece, and MSc in Technoeconomic Systems from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. He has been involved as entrepreneur and project manager in several large-scale IT projects in the domains of Telecommunications, Marketing, News Media and Travel. He has valuable experience in EU funded projects as Project Manager and Technical Coordinator.

He is involved in the field of business applications, big data analysis, marketing management and coordination, product commercialization, travel related applications, dissemination and exploitation activities and project management. He has great experience in managing technology impacted projects from inception to closure. His motivation is to efficiently turn ICT projects into successful commercial products. Mr Vantolas is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece.

Andreas Alexopoulos

Software Engineer

Andreas Alexopoulos recently got a Diploma & Masters Degree in Computer Engineering & Informatics from Polytechnic University of Patras, Greece.

After having worked for many years in the music industry development & management, Andreas developed exceptional skills in communication and collaboration. He has been involved in several projects as junior software engineer, using various programming languages, web design techniques and his evolving knowledge in management and digital marketing sectors.

Jihane Najar

Project Manager

Jihane Najar holds Diploma in Computer Science at the Higher Institute of Management of Gabes, Tunisia, and she was awarded her Master’s Degree in Computer Science by the Higher Institute of Management of Gabes,Tunisia.

She is currently a PhD candidate and research assistant at the Technical University of Braunschweig, in Germany, where she has published many papers in the area of systems and networks security.

Manos Karampinakis

Software Engineer

Manos Karampinakis holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Computer Science at the University of Crete, Department of Computer Science.

Manos was part of the Distributed Computing Systems Lab, of the the Institute of Computer Science at FORTH, for 3 years. Where he gained experience in many fields of Computer Science, while his main interests are Cybersecurity and Computer Networks and Telecommunications.
